College Media Day, October 2013

I'm finally getting around to posting pictures from College Media Day hosted by the Richmond Times-Dispatch back in October of 2013. I'm really glad I went, I almost chickened out because I feel like a phony when I hang out with real journalists. Does that happen to you?

I know I want to be a journalist, but I'm not as experienced as the other students. I never worked on a high school newspaper and I don't have any unique voice as a writer. I guess I am a writer in the sense that I'm plagued by feelings of inadequacy. Ha!

Hopefully that will change over this semester since I'm working on the school newspaper, The Bullet, for course credit. I'm also going to take photography classes in the spring.

One day I won't feel like such a wannabe, right?

Properly Bound: The Light That Failed

I'm more than a little biased towards Kipling's works because I love him as a writer, but this book is really interesting stylistically and plot-wise. I believe Kipling wrote it when he was just starting out a writer- it's obvious that he set out to write a great romantic novel and it fell a little flat. (But not at all bad for a first try!)

I hope to have the time to read more of his novels this coming year, I've got a stack of Kipling and Hemingway books by my bed just begging to be read.

Crappy Pics, Edition 4

All of these pics are from the weeks leading up to finals...hence the stressed/manic facial expressions.

Poor Mingy. I harass him all the time, but I think he enjoys it?
Awesome new headphones via a Black Friday sale. A need for college students. :)

 "A Child's Christmas in Wales"

This is by far my most favorite Christmas film, based on the poem by Dylan Thomas.

I usually post the poem each year, along with the film's soundtrack, but I found the film in its entirety on YouTube last night.

Merry Christmas!

One More

I've got one more final to go: French.

I'm not too worried about it, but I definitely have to stop procrastinating and actually study.

My heart just isn't in studying anymore.

I want to be caroling and skipping about.

I'm ready for Christmas!

But no. I'm stuck under a pile of French notes.

At least I have my cute kitty, hot tea, and Young the Giant playing.

See you on the other side.

Dirty, no good umbrella thief

To the jackwagon who stole my umbrella, causing me to walk across campus in the pouring rain:

I hope you fail every single final.

And get the plague.

Last word: karma.

She was potted.

This was my face after a student spent thirty minutes telling me how much pot she smoked last night (in vast detail, I hadn't had enough coffee and I couldn't stop her.)

And then she tried to get out of our French exam because she "had no time to study".

I just can't.

Are people really this dumb?

Hold me.

In case you were wondering, yes, my adorable French professor made her take the exam.
